The following questions and answers are designed to provide an understanding of The University of Texas Golf Club and the membership opportunity available at the Club. As these questions and answers are only summary in nature, you should read the Membership Plan and Rules and Regulations prior to purchasing a membership.

Q: What is The University of Texas Golf Club?
A: The University of Texas Golf Club (the “Club”) offers Members of the Club the opportunity to enjoy exceptional golf and social facilities located in the Steiner Ranch residential community in Austin, Texas. The Club is licensed by The University of Texas and is home to The University's men's and women's golf programs. It is the Club’s intent to provide these first-class facilities for ultimate Member enjoyment and to promote the University of Texas golf programs. With Head Football Coach, Mack Brown as Chairman of the Board, and avid University supporters as Partners and Members, the long-term vision for the Club is an environment of championship caliber golf in a unique club setting. Your membership in the Club will assist The University in achieving its goal of national prominence in golf and developing The University’s young athletes into the leaders of tomorrow.

Q: What categories of membership are available in the Club?
A: The Club currently offers two classifications with two or three options as shown in the chart below, and described further in the Membership Plan.

Local:
  • Longhorn Membership (Full Golf)
  • Orange & White Membership (Corporate)
  • Burnt Orange Social Membership (Social ONLY)
Regional:
  • Longhorn Membership (Full Golf)
  • Burnt Orange Membership (Limited Sports)
The two classifications are Local and Regional. In the Local classification, the Club offers Full Golf Membership, referred to as the “Longhorn” Membership and Corporate Golf Membership, referred to as the “Orange & White” Membership. In the Regional classification, the club offers Full Golf Membership, referred to as the “Longhorn” Membership and Limited Sports Membership, referred to as the “Burnt Orange” Membership.

Q: Do I have to be an alumnus of The University of Texas in order to become a Member of the Club?
A: No. Memberships are being offered to those interested in enjoying the unique experience the Club offers, focusing on championship golf and fellowship. While the Club is licensed with The University of Texas, membership is not conditioned upon prospective Members being alumni or having any other relationship with The University. All applicants for membership are subject to approval by the Club.

Q: What facilities does the Club offer?
A: Members, their families and guests will enjoy the following:
  • A par 71, 7,412 yard, 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Bechtol Russell Golf Design.
  • State of the art practice facilities, including a driving range, pitching area, chipping green and putting green with separate practice areas for use by The University Golf Teams.
  • Exceptional Clubhouse facilities include a 16,000 square foot clubhouse, an open-air 3,400 square-foot pavilion, and a fitness facility. The Clubhouse include men's and women's locker rooms and lounges, a luxurious bar and lounge area, a formal dining room, a golf pro shop, University of Texas trophy and memorabilia display and administrative space. 


Q: Who owns the Club Facilities?
A: The University of Texas Golf Club, Ltd., a Texas limited partnership (the "Partnership"), owns and operates the Club Facilities.

Q: How many memberships will be offered in the Club?
A: The number of memberships available in each of the categories of membership will be as follows: (Longhorn Membership numbers include Founder Members.)

(Each Orange & White Designee shall count as one Local Longhorn Membership for purposes of the limit on the number of Local Longhorn Memberships to be issued in the Club. Burnt Orange Members may only play 10 rounds per year, however, this will not apply to a Burnt Orange Social Membership. The Burnt Orange Social Membership does not involve any golf.)

Q: What are the privileges of a Local Longhorn Membership?
A: Each person who acquires a Local Longhorn Membership will be entitled to use all of the golf and social facilities of the Club. Local Longhorn Members will not be required to pay greens fees for their use of the golf facilities, but will be required to pay golf cart fees. Local Longhorn Members will be entitled to reserve golf starting times seven days in advance of the date of play. Guests of Local Longhorn Members will be required to pay greens fees and golf cart fees when playing golf.

Q: What are the privileges of a Regional Longhorn Membership?
A: Each person who acquires a Regional Longhorn Membership will be entitled to use all of the golf and social facilities of the Club. Regional Longhorn Members will not be required to pay greens fees for their use of the golf facilities, but will be required to pay golf cart fees. Regional Longhorn Members will be entitled to reserve golf starting times seven days in advance of the date of play. On home football weekends, Regional Longhorn Members may make tee times ten days in advance. Guests of Longhorn Members will be required to pay greens fees and golf cart fees when playing golf.

Q: What are the privileges of an Orange & White Membership?
A. Each Orange & White Membership will be entitled to designate a minimum of three persons and a maximum of eight persons to use the Club Facilities. Each Designee will be entitled to use the Club Facilities on the same basis as a Local Longhorn Member.

Q: What are the privileges of a Regional Burnt Orange Membership?
A: Each person who acquires a Regional Burnt Orange Membership will be entitled to use all of the golf and social facilities of the Club. Burnt Orange Members may play up to a total of ten rounds of golf per membership per year without payment of any green fee, although they will be required to pay golf cart fees. Each round of golf, including tournament rounds, played by those qualifying under the membership plan shall count towards the limit of 10 rounds annually. Burnt Orange Members may reserve golf starting times five days in advance of the date of play; however, on home football weekends, Burnt Orange Members may make tee times ten days in advance. Other than home football game weekends, play may be restricted during peak demand time periods (Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday mornings) in high season (March-June, September-November), especially as the golf club approaches capacity in membership.

Q: What are the privileges of a Local Burnt Orange Social Membership?
A: Each person who acquires a Burnt Orange Social Membership will enjoy all social activities offered by the club. Full access to all dining facilities, as well as the fitness facility upon completion. This membership has no access to golf or practice facilities.

Q: How will the Club handle the demand for access to the Club Facilities during home football weekends?
A: In order to promote the benefit of the Club Facilities to all Members during the peak times when The University of Texas has a home football game or any other well attended event, priorities may be established and access to the Club Facilities limited to provide priority for certain categories of membership. Other limitations on access may include, but shall not be limited to, restrictions on advance sign-up privileges and limitations on guest sponsorship. The Club shall provide advance notice of such policies.

Q: Will my family members be welcome at the Club?
A: Yes. The ability to spend quality time with members of the family is of paramount importance these days. The Club is committed to providing a pleasant environment where this can be accomplished. The Club will present the ability for young people to be in the presence of some of the finest, young competitive student-athletes in the world providing a great place for children to grow up around these role models. A Member’s immediate family will be entitled to use the Club Facilities in accordance with the Member’s category of membership. A Member’s immediate family will include the Member’s spouse and their unmarried children, under the age of 23, living at home, attending school on a full-time basis or in the military. The Club reserves the right to restrict access to the golf facilities by unaccompanied children of Members in its sole discretion.

Q: May I invite guests to the Club?
A: Yes. Having your friends enjoy the Club's outstanding facilities with you is a wonderful attribute of membership in the Club. Therefore, Members are entitled to have guests use the Club Facilities in accordance with the Member’s category of membership and the Rules and Regulations adopted by the Club to preserve the exclusivity of its facilities. From time to time during peak demand time periods, guest play on the course may be restricted in order to create sufficient availability for the membership.

Q: Will there be any other types of membership available in the Club?
A: Yes. A limited number of honorary, “Texas Legends’ Memberships,” will be available and will not count towards the membership cap. In addition, The University of Texas men's and women's varsity golf teams will have access to the Club Facilities on such terms and conditions as determined by the Club from time to time.

Q: What will I be required to pay to become a Member of the Club?
A: Longhorn Members will be required to pay a refundable membership deposit in an amount and manner determined by the Club from time to time. Membership deposits are refundable only in accordance with the Membership Plan, the Rules and Regulations of the Club and the Longhorn Member's Membership Agreement.

Burnt Orange Members and Orange & White Members will be required to pay a non-refundable initiation fee in an amount and manner determined by the Club from time to time.

Q: Can Members be assessed to cover any operating deficits or capital improvements?
A: No. Members will not be subject to any liability for capital or operating assessments for the costs and expenses of ownership or operation of the Club or the Club Facilities. The Partnership will pay all operating expenses incurred in the operation of the Club Facilities and will retain all operating revenues resulting from operation of the Club Facilities.

Q: How will the Club keep informed of Members’ desires?
A: The Club is committed to providing the types of services, programs, activities and events that the membership desires having. A Board of Governors comprised of Founder Members of the Club and others determined by the Club from time to time will be formed, enabling Members to have input on the foregoing items as well as other matters that are of concern to the Members.

Q: How do I become a Member?
A: Membership is subject to the approval of the Club. To become a Member of the Club, you must submit to the Club a fully completed and signed Membership Agreement and a check in the amount of the required membership deposit or initiation fee, as applicable. In the event your agreement is not acted upon favorably, the membership deposit or initiation fee will be fully refunded without interest.
