Steve is a native Texan who has been involved in tennis his entire life. He attended the University of Texas where he won the NCAA National Championship in singles, and helped lead the 1990 Longhorn team to its first conference title in 13 years. Steve left UT in 1990 and competed on the ATP Tour for 8 years, reaching a career high ranking of 80 in the world. He has career wins over Brad Gilbert, Patrick McEnroe, Andre Medvedev, and Richard Krajicek. Following his pro career, Steve was a co-founder of the King Daddy Sports Tennis Academy in Houston Texas. He helped grow King Daddy Sports into an academy that produced many of the top junior tennis players in Texas for over 15 years. In 2007, Steve became the General Manager of Westheimer Indoor in Houston, TX, where he helped grow the club into one of the top indoor clubs in the Houston area.
